Huracán Mitch 1998

Hurricane Mitch, one of the most violent hurricanes of the 20th century, hit Honduras on 26 October 1998 with destructive winds of approximately 250 km/h. Transformed into a tropical storm, the torrential rains caused rivers to overflow massively, causing severe flooding throughout the country. The terrible hurricane left nearly 1.5 million people affected, including 5657 dead, 8058 missing, and 285,000 people who lost their homes.
